About This Video
Step into the center with Broche Ballet for a session dedicated to the art of balance and fluid transitions. In this all-level practice, we explore the "Balancing Philosophy," a technical framework designed to help dancers find and maintain their axis across a variety of movements. This class isn't just about standing still; it's about finding stability within motion, specifically through a dynamic waltz and turn combination.
We begin by breaking down the mechanics of the tombé and pas de bourrée connection. A common struggle for many dancers is losing momentum or alignment between these steps. You will learn to connect the tombé by driving right up into the beginning of your pirouette, creating a more cohesive and powerful movement.
We also focus heavily on the placement of the head and weight, emphasizing the "face over the foot" cue. By keeping your focus and weight directly over your supporting leg, you ensure that your pirouettes and en dedans turns remain centered and controlled. One of the highlights of this class is the attention to detail regarding the upper body.
We discuss how the upper body and arms finish the turn with an elongated allongé, even in waltz or soutenu sections. This prevents the movement from looking abrupt and adds a professional polish to your dancing. We also tackle common alignment issues, such as ensuring the hip does not move behind the foot during a chassé forward.
Beyond the technical corrections, we invite you to embrace your inner performer. Dance is a performing art, and this class encourages you to add flair, softness in the fingers, and intentional facial expressions. We want you to pretend you are on a world-class stage, letting go of perfectionism to find true expression.
By the end of this session, you will have a stronger technical foundation and the confidence to dance with greater stage presence.
