About This Video
Elevate your ballet practice with Broche Ballet’s 'Artistry in Center' class. This unique session, set to the evocative melody of 'Lo Efímero' by Mario Vinuela, focuses on the emotional and fluid aspects of classical dance. While technical precision remains vital, this class encourages you to use your technique as a vessel for personal expression and healing.
In times of stress or difficulty, the studio becomes a sanctuary where movement can process what words cannot. Throughout this 26-minute session, you will explore a thoughtfully choreographed routine divided into three distinct sections: the beginning, middle, and end. The beginning segment focuses on grounding, using counts one through eight to establish a rhythmic foundation with movements like plié and tendu.
As you move into the middle section, the choreography expands. You will learn to 'paint the sky' with the arms and 'gather the air,' metaphors that help dancers achieve a sense of weightlessness and grace in their port de bras. Technical elements such as tombé and temps lié are integrated to challenge your balance and coordination.
A significant focus of this class is the transition between movements. Rather than seeing ballet as a series of isolated poses, you will learn to feel the continuity of motion. The instructor emphasizes the importance of breath, teaching you how to 'take air' into each movement to support your phrasing and endurance.
This focus on breath not only improves your physical execution but also deepens your connection to the music, allowing the choreography to flow naturally from one position to the next. The final section of the combination involves moving in a circle to close the sequence, symbolizing a return to center and a sense of completion. By the third repetition, the goal shifts from technical acquisition to personal artistry.
You are encouraged to let the movement come from within, making the choreography your own. Join us at Broche Ballet to discover how every rond de jambe and port de bras can tell a story.
