About This Video
The International Adult Ballet Festival (IABF) offers a unique and exhilarating opportunity for adult dancers to step into the spotlight through the corps de ballet. If you have ever dreamed of performing a group piece on a professional stage, understanding how the IABF 2024 corps de ballet works is the first step toward making that dream a reality. At Broche Ballet, we believe performance is a vital part of the dancer's journey, and these group pieces are designed to be accessible, supportive, and incredibly fun for dancers of every background.
The process begins in March, when the specific group pieces and choreography are announced. Dancers have the flexibility to choose between pieces performed in soft shoes or those requiring pointe shoes, ensuring that there is a place for everyone regardless of their current technical level or experience. One of the most convenient aspects of the IABF is the remote learning phase. From approximately May through July, dancers will learn their choreography via live Zoom sessions and high-quality recorded videos. These resources include individual instruction and dedicated follow-along practice videos, allowing you to master the steps at your own pace from the comfort of your home studio before meeting the rest of the group.
As the festival approaches, the focus shifts to the stage. Registration includes scheduled rehearsal time on the stage itself, which is crucial for learning spacing and transitions within the group. While the instruction and rehearsal time are covered in the registration fee, dancers are responsible for providing their own costumes, allowing for a personalized touch to the collective look of the piece. When registering, you can even specify your preference for being in the front or the back of the formation, ensuring you feel confident and comfortable during the show.
Joining a corps de ballet group piece is optional but highly recommended. It is a fantastic way to build camaraderie with fellow adult dancers and experience the magic of synchronized movement. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, the IABF corps de ballet provides a professional performance environment tailored specifically for the adult learner.
