About This Video
Welcome to the fourth and final class of our specialized petite allegro series at Broche Ballet. In this session, we transition from isolated technical drills to the mastery of a full combination: two jetés, one pas de bourrée, two sissonnes, and two changements. This 'Putting it Together' phase is designed to challenge your coordination while reinforcing the foundational principles of speed and lightness that define petite allegro.
A primary technical focus of this class is the pas de bourrée. We often think of this step as a simple transition, but here we explore its potential as a dynamic springboard. You will learn how to use the final step of the pas de bourrée to propel your weight forward, creating a seamless flow into the following sissonnes.
To achieve this, maintaining a compact spine is vital. By keeping the torso stabilized and the body 'tight,' you reduce unnecessary movement, allowing your legs to work more efficiently and respond quickly to the upbeat music. Throughout the practice, the instructor emphasizes the importance of a deep, functional plié.
A proper plié is the engine for every jeté and changement, providing the necessary power for elevation while acting as a shock absorber for the landing. You will work through varying tempos, learning how to stay 'on top of the music' without rushing the technique. This requires a high level of focus and concentration, as you must anticipate each transition before it happens.
At Broche Ballet, we believe in providing adult dancers with technical depth. This class is not just about memorizing steps; it is about understanding the 'why' behind the movement. By the end of this session, you will have a better grasp of how to connect individual jumps into a cohesive, fluid phrase.
Whether you are practicing at home or in the studio, these insights into body positioning and propulsion will elevate your entire dance practice.
