About This Program
The Broche Ballet Journey to Pointe will guide you every step of the way from your first day of ballet class to your first pair of pointe shoes.
(DO NOT GO EN POINTE WITHOUT APPROVAL FROM A TEACHER)
Step 1 - Learn the Basics of Pre-Pointe and the 4 Criteria for Pointe Readiness
Complete the first section of classes to understand the basics of pointe readiness and how to perform each criterion properly. I recommend completing 3-5 classes per week, with a minimum of 1 class per week.
Step 2 - (Optional) Receive Guidance on Your Pointe Journey!
Now that you’re familiar with the basics of the pointe readiness criteria, consider purchasing a Foot 360° Consultation to receive personalized feedback on your pointe journey.
This consultation does not require perfection but will provide feedback on how and where to focus your efforts, along with a personalized plan to help you get en pointe.
This can be a game changer, allowing you to progress quickly and efficiently with advice tailored to your unique needs, foot type, and current ballet progress. While optional, this step can greatly enhance your journey.
Step 3 - Start Your Practice!
Begin your first 4-month plan. Whether you use the 4-month plan provided in this course or a custom 4-month plan from a Foot 360° Consultation, get started on your pre-pointe practice. The Tracker in the resources section will help you stay on track.
Step 4 - Apply to Go En Pointe
Broche Ballet opens applications for en pointe twice annually. We invite a group of dancers to start pointe work together so everyone can build strength and stamina safely in our 16-week beginner program.
The beginner pointe program will prepare dancers to join Broche Ballet's Level 2 Pointe Basics classes and, in many cases, local pointe classes.
When applications open, you’ll see announcements on your dashboard and in your inbox inviting you to apply! It’s common to apply 2-3 times before being accepted for pointe.
Applying is beneficial because you’ll receive a filled-out pointe readiness checklist. Use this checklist to select exercises from the "exercise bank" at the bottom of this program to create a practice plan specific to any unchecked criteria.
