About This Video
Welcome to a challenging session of Advanced Ballet Center work at Broche Ballet. This class is designed for the experienced dancer who is ready to move away from the barre and find their stability in the middle of the floor. Because we dive straight into grand battement and complex combinations, please ensure you have completed a full barre and are thoroughly warmed up before beginning this video.
We begin with a focus on power and precision through grand battement, transitioning quickly into pirouette preparations. One of the core technical focuses of this lesson is the relationship between the arms and the legs. You will explore how maintaining a strong second position during a passé can create a "spring load" effect, giving you the necessary torque and control for a successful pirouette.
We also emphasize the importance of crossing the arm to first position precisely as the heel descends, a subtle detail that separates intermediate dancers from advanced performers. The class then shifts into a beautiful adagio, where the focus turns toward fluid port de bras and balance. Maintaining a clean line in arabesque is a primary goal here.
You will learn how to navigate the common pitfall of losing balance when the head begins to tip or move independently of the torso. By keeping the head moving in harmony with the arms, you create a cohesive and graceful appearance while maintaining your center of gravity. In addition to these longer sequences, we tackle the energetic footwork of the pas de bourrée.
Speed and control are essential here, requiring a high level of core engagement and a neutral pelvis. Throughout the practice, your Broche Ballet instructor provides detailed technical corrections on posture, arm placement, and head positioning to help you refine your artistry. Whether you are working on your landing techniques or the fouetté action in your turns, this class provides the professional feedback needed to elevate your dance practice.
