About This Video
Welcome to a very special session at Broche Ballet! In this energetic and celebratory all-level barre class, we honor a milestone by weaving exactly 72 relevés into our exercises to celebrate Dennis’s 72nd birthday. This class is designed to challenge your endurance while maintaining a playful and encouraging atmosphere suitable for dancers of all backgrounds.
Throughout this 47-minute practice, our instructor emphasizes the critical concept of 'stillness' in the upper body. You will learn how to brace your core and find stability, which is essential for allowing your legs to move freely and reach higher extensions. We explore the relevé in various forms, including parallel, first position, and on one leg in passé, ensuring a comprehensive workout for your calves, ankles, and feet.
The class also features a dynamic frappé combination designed to improve your foot speed and precision. We focus on the 'strike' of the frappé and the importance of maintaining a stretched line behind the knee. In addition to the footwork, you will work through traditional barre sequences including plié, tendu, and développé.
Our instructor guides you through movements to the front, side, and back, emphasizing proper alignment and engagement at every turn. By the time we reach the end of the class—and those final celebratory relevés—you will feel stronger, more centered, and more connected to your technique. Whether you are looking for a rigorous technical workout or a fun way to celebrate the ballet community, this class offers the perfect blend of discipline and joy.
