About This Video
In this 17-minute center practice, Broche Ballet invites you to move away from the barre and find your stability in the middle of the room. This class focuses on the foundational elements of adagio, challenging beginners to maintain control, fluidity, and proper alignment without the support of the barre. We begin by establishing a strong foundation with plié and dégagé work, emphasizing the transition from two legs to one.
A major focus of this session is the coordination of port de bras. You will learn how to move your arms with intention, ensuring that each movement is isolated and fluid. The instructor highlights the importance of the allongez line, teaching you that the arms should move sequentially rather than simultaneously to achieve that classical, effortless look.
The heart of the lesson dives into the balancé, specifically focusing on a very slow waltz tempo. This slower pace is perfect for dancers who are still finding their equilibrium. You will work on maintaining straight legs in the transition and using a deep fondu to cushion your landings.
By focusing on core engagement and proper weight placement, you will build the strength needed for more complex center work later in your training. Throughout the class, the instructor provides detailed feedback on posture and the logic behind each movement. Whether you are practicing your jambe extensions or refining your port de bras, the emphasis remains on slow, controlled execution to build muscle memory.
The session concludes with a traditional révérence, including a curtsy and bow, allowing you to finish your practice with grace and gratitude. Join us at Broche Ballet to refine your center work and build lasting confidence on the dance floor.
