About This Video
Welcome to your center practice at Broche Ballet! In this 27-minute session, we move away from the barre to focus on core stability, coordination, and grace. This class is specifically designed for beginner students who are ready to take their technique to the middle of the floor with confidence and poise.
Moving to the center is a milestone in any dancer's journey, and this class provides the structure needed to succeed. We begin with waltz steps, a fundamental movement that challenges your cardiovascular endurance while requiring fluid port de bras. You will learn how to use your breath to power your movements, ensuring your waltz looks effortless even as the heart rate rises.
From there, we dive into technical combinations including piqué arabesque and tombé pas de bourrée. The instructor emphasizes the generosity of the tombé—a movement that involves the whole body and both arms to create a sense of expansion and travel. One of the primary focuses of this class is the piqué soutenu.
We break down the movement to ensure you understand how the arms and legs must work in unison to achieve a clean, controlled turn. You will learn the importance of using the shoulders to guide your rotation and how to cross the front foot over correctly. This slow and controlled movement is essential for mastering transitions between larger sequences.
Throughout the class, we work through exercises on the right side before repeating everything on the left, ensuring balanced muscle development and cognitive coordination. We also touch upon maintaining a strong plié to find your center and prevent falling off-balance during turns. Whether you are practicing in a studio or a small home space, this video provides the professional feedback and encouragement needed to improve your control.
Join us at Broche Ballet as we refine your alignment, polish your transitions, and build the foundation for beautiful center work.
