About This Video
Welcome to this comprehensive Beginner Ballet class at Broche Ballet, designed to help you build a solid foundation in classical technique. Over the course of nearly an hour, we dive deep into the essential elements of a traditional ballet class, moving from the stability of the barre to the fluidity of center work. We begin at the barre, focusing on the precision of your footwork.
One of the core focuses of this session is the 'step'—the transition from a fondu (a melting bend on one leg) to a straight supporting leg. Mastering this ensures stability and grace in every movement. You will also practice plié and allongé to develop both strength and length in your muscles.
As we transition to the center, the challenge increases as we remove the support of the barre. Here, we focus heavily on balance and port de bras. You will learn how to detach your arm movements from your leg movements, achieving a smooth, sweeping effect that characterizes professional dancers.
We address the common challenge of 'rubber arms' by practicing coordination exercises that ensure your upper body remains expressive yet controlled. Throughout the class, we explore sequences involving the tombé and piqué, emphasizing the importance of stepping onto a secure, straight leg. We also spend time on the artistry of the reverence, ensuring your curtsy or bow is executed with the proper technique and poise.
Join us at Broche Ballet to refine your technique and find your balance. By the end of this session, you will have a better understanding of how to coordinate your entire body, creating the seamless transitions and elegant lines that define the beauty of ballet.
