About This Video
Welcome to an intensive 45-minute intermediate barre class at Broche Ballet, specifically designed to challenge your endurance and refine your technical precision. This session is perfect for dancers who have a solid foundation and are looking to push their practice further through complex combinations and focused alignment work. The class follows a traditional structure, beginning with detailed pliés in multiple positions to establish a grounded base and warm up the joints.
As we progress into tendu and dégagé sequences, you will encounter enveloppé movements and flexed-foot transitions designed to improve foot articulation and speed. These initial exercises set the stage for the core focus of the session: the fondu and adage sections. A significant portion of this class is dedicated to mastering the fondu.
We focus on the melting quality of the movement while simultaneously addressing hip flexor flexibility. By incorporating specific lunges and attitude stretches, you will learn how to facilitate higher leg extensions and improve your overall range of motion. Alongside this, we emphasize proper postural alignment, specifically keeping the ribs closed and the core engaged to provide a stable base for your port de bras.
As the barre continues, we integrate weight transfers using tombé and piqué transitions. These elements are crucial for developing the fluid coordination required for center work. We finish with a demanding grand battement finale.
This section is a true test of stamina, featuring high repetitions and en cloche patterns that require consistent height and unwavering form. Throughout the class, you will receive technical cues on hip stability and upper body placement to ensure every movement is executed with classical integrity. Whether you are practicing at home or in a studio, this intermediate barre provides the structure and challenge necessary to take your ballet technique to the next level.
