About This Video
Welcome to this comprehensive intermediate pointe class at Broche Ballet, designed to bridge the gap between foundational barre exercises and confident center work. In this session, we transition from using two hands on the barre to a more challenging one-hand setup, forcing you to find your own balance and internal support. The class begins with a series of drills focused on shaping the foot inside the shoe.
We often think of pointe shoes as static tools, but at Broche Ballet, we believe in active articulation. You will learn to treat your shoe like a shiny, sparkly case, shaping your arch and toes within it to maximize the aesthetic line and functional strength of your relevé. A significant portion of this lesson is dedicated to the échappé 4th.
This specific movement requires immense control over your turnout and weight distribution. We break down the mechanics through targeted drills, ensuring your heels are well-supported and your alignment remains vertical. Alongside these drills, we explore the integration of the upper body.
When performing intentional rib cage movements, it is vital to contract the core and lower back muscles to maintain a stable base. As we move to the center, the focus shifts to flow and precision. You will practice combinations including piqué en dedans, soutenu, and relevé attitude.
We pay special attention to the piqué technique, emphasizing a straight working leg and a deep plié on the supporting leg for a powerful push-off. Whether you are working on your arabesque or a grand jeté sequence, the instructor provides detailed corrections on foot placement and timing. By the end of this practice, you will have a deeper understanding of how to engage your musculature to support complex pointe work.
Join us to refine your technique and build the strength necessary for advanced center combinations.
