About This Video
Welcome to this intermediate pointe class at Broche Ballet, designed to help you transition your skills from the stability of the barre to the freedom of the center. This session focuses on building the necessary strength and control for complex movements en pointe, ensuring you feel confident and secure on your boxes. The class begins with intensive barre exercises that emphasize proper alignment and ankle stability.
You will work through various piqué and tombé combinations, learning to push effectively from the floor and maintain a strong, stretched ankle. The instructor guides you through staying on the box for as long as possible during tombé off the pointe, a crucial skill for developing fluid transitions and control. As the class progresses, we move toward one-handed barre work and eventually incorporate portions away from the barre.
You will practice bourrée movements traveling forward, adding soutenu turns, and exploring écarté and devant positions. A key highlight of this session is the introduction of finger turns, where you will learn to coordinate your arms and legs while maintaining your balance and spotting. The core of this lesson involves mastering the tombé off the box.
The instructor emphasizes staying over your center for as long as possible before allowing the weight to shift, which builds incredible strength in the intrinsic muscles of the feet. This control is vital when moving into the center for combinations involving piqué into arabesque or soutenu turns. We also dive into the specifics of bourrée movements, ensuring the feet remain tight and the legs stay energized as you travel across the floor.
By the end of the class, you will have a better understanding of how to use the barre as a tool rather than a crutch, preparing you for full center work. Join us at Broche Ballet to refine your artistry and technical prowess in this comprehensive intermediate pointe session.
