About This Video
Stepping away from the barre and into the center of the studio is one of the most exciting and challenging milestones in a dancer’s journey. In this Broche Ballet session, we focus on helping you level up by introducing intermediate vocabulary and refining your coordination. This class is specifically designed to bridge the gap between beginner fundamentals and the fluid, complex sequences found in higher-level training.
The core of our practice today involves mastering the back soutenu. This movement requires a strong sense of center and a deep understanding of how to use your plié to initiate and finish a turn. We break down the mechanics of the weight transfer and the sharp, clean finish necessary to make this step look effortless.
Alongside this new skill, we dive into a detailed review of emboîté. You will learn how to keep your front leg consistent and how to manage your weight so that your transitions remain light and rhythmic. Coordination is key when working in the center.
We practice a comprehensive series that includes tendu front, tombé, and arabesque pas de bourrée. A major focus of this lesson is learning how to use your arms to change body direction dynamically. Instead of simply moving your limbs, you will learn to use your port de bras to lead the body into the corners, ensuring your alignment remains correct as the choreography demands.
Finally, we tackle one of the most daunting tasks for any advancing dancer: reversing combinations. By breaking down the logic behind the movement, you will build the mental agility required for intermediate-style classes. Through consistent practice with these exercises, you will gain the confidence to handle more complex center work with grace and technical precision.
