About This Video
Welcome to Broche Ballet's Beyond Beginner series, where we bridge the gap between basic fundamentals and intermediate artistry. In this 34-minute center practice, we dive deep into the mechanics of movements that require increased coordination, such as the précipité and balancé en tournant. Center work is the heart of any ballet class, challenging your core stability and spatial awareness without the support of the barre.
We begin with a focused look at the précipité. This falling movement is essential for building momentum and fluidity. You will learn how to coordinate your arm positions with the weight transfer into a plié, ensuring a seamless transition into subsequent steps.
From there, we explore the balancé en tournant. Adding rotation to a standard balancé can be tricky, but our instructor breaks down the spotting and weight shifts needed to maintain your axis while turning. The class also revisits the piqué turn and transitions into arabesque.
We emphasize the importance of the coup-de-pied position and the precision required in your footwork to achieve a clean spin. As you move through the combinations, you will receive guidance on how to walk into an arabesque with grace, maintaining a strong standing leg and an open chest. Throughout this session, we focus on both the right and left sides to ensure balanced muscle development.
By practicing these beyond beginner steps, you will develop the strength and confidence needed for more advanced choreography. Join us at Broche Ballet as we refine your technique and help you find your center. Whether you are practicing in a studio or your living room, these exercises are designed to challenge your control and elevate your performance with professional, encouraging guidance.
