About This Video
Elevate your practice and find your center with Broche Ballet’s Moving Meditation series. This session focuses specifically on port de bras—the art of carriage of the arms—to help you blend technical precision with mindful relaxation. In just four minutes, you will explore how the breath acts as a catalyst for movement, allowing your arms to flow gracefully through classic positions. We begin by emphasizing the connection between the breath and the body; as you reach into an allongé, you will learn to inhale deeply, using that energy to sustain the movement before exhaling into first position.
Technical alignment is a key component of this meditation. We guide you to maintain soft yet strong lines, ensuring that your elbows remain positioned slightly above your wrists to create a continuous, elegant curve. You will practice transitioning through second position and into a high fifth or en haut, always returning to the core of your alignment. The session also incorporates the arabesque position, teaching you how to maintain an open chest and relaxed shoulders even while extending through the fingertips. By reversing the movements and focusing on the path of the arms through the space, you build muscle memory that is both functional and expressive.
At Broche Ballet, we believe that ballet is as much a mental practice as it is a physical one. This moving meditation is designed to strip away the stress of complex footwork, allowing you to focus entirely on the fluidity of your upper body and the rhythm of your own breath. Whether you are using this as a warm-up, a cool-down, or a mid-day break, you will leave the mat feeling taller, more relaxed, and more deeply connected to your artistry.
