About This Video
Elevate your foundational skills with our Refined Beginner Ballet Barre at Broche Ballet. This comprehensive 40-minute session is designed for students who have moved past the absolute basics and are ready to focus on the intricate nuances of technique. Led by our expert instructors, this class transitions through a full barre sequence, emphasizing the deliberate execution of movements to build lasting strength, flexibility, and grace.
The class begins with essential barre work, focusing on the mechanics of the Plié and Tendu. We prioritize proper alignment and turnout from the very start, ensuring that every movement is grounded in correct technique. As we progress, you will work through Fondu and Coup-de-pied, learning how to maintain a smooth and controlled transition between various positions.
Our instructors provide specific cues for muscle engagement, particularly focusing on the gluteus maximus to provide the stability needed for more complex movements like the Glissade. Keeping the core engaged is a recurring theme, as it serves as the powerhouse for every extension and lift. A significant portion of this class is dedicated to Adagio.
Here, the focus shifts to sustained extensions and fluidity. You will practice the Développé and Arabesque, paying close attention to arm placement and the shape of the upper body. By working slowly and deliberately, you will gain the control necessary to execute these challenging movements with ease.
We also incorporate Sous-sus to help you find your vertical center and prepare for movements away from the barre. Musicality is a key theme throughout this session. Practicing Adagio with music helps you develop an internal sense of timing and rhythm, which is vital for any dancer’s artistic expression.
By the end of the barre, you will transition into a brief center work segment to apply the stability and alignment you've cultivated. Broche Ballet believes that a strong foundation is the key to longevity in dance, and this class provides the perfect environment to hone those skills.
