About This Video
Welcome to a focused, intense session at the Broche Ballet barre. This 37-minute Super Sweaty Slow Barre is specifically designed to challenge your muscle memory and deep turnout activation. While the pace is slow, the physical demand is high, as we strip away momentum to find the core of every movement.
In this class, we dive deep into the mechanics of rotation and leg alignment. We begin by prioritizing a precise setup for the working leg in every exercise, ensuring that the standing hip remains stable and energized throughout. You will work through detailed sequences of fondu en croix and envelopé en croix, where the focus remains on the gradual unfolding and folding of the legs.
By slowing down these traditionally fluid movements, you gain the opportunity to check your alignment at every degree of the rotation. One of the key technical focuses of this session is maintaining turnout in the knee while straightening from a plié position. We emphasize the engagement of the glutes and the rotation of the inner thighs to prevent the rolling or collapsing often seen in faster combinations.
Whether you are stretching forward or backward, you will learn to hold your position with strength and intention. The class concludes with a special celebratory relevé sequence. Here, we shift our focus to verticality and balance.
You will practice pulling your kneecaps up and reaching your ears toward the ceiling to achieve a long, elegant line. We also introduce a challenging balance transition, switching legs while remaining on one leg during relevé exercises to build superior control and ankle stability. Join us for this sweat-inducing session that proves slow does not mean easy.
By the end of this barre, you will feel a deeper connection to your turnout and a heightened sense of precision in your dancing. Let’s get to the barre and start moving with Broche Ballet.
