About This Video
Welcome to a transformative technical session at Broche Ballet. Our "Super Sweaty SLOW Barre" is designed for the dancer who knows that true strength is built in the moments of slowest control. While the class moves at a deliberate pace, the physical demand is high. By slowing down traditional combinations like the plié, tendu, and dégagé, we strip away momentum and force the muscles of the back, glutes, and core to do the heavy lifting. This intentional pacing allows you to find your true plumb line and achieve a level of precision that is often lost in faster classes.
In this session, we dive deep into the mechanics of the fondu and coup-de-pied. You will learn to navigate the transition of the heel and the rotation of the knee with surgical precision. We emphasize the pinky toe placement and wrapping the heel forward to maintain a perfect turnout, even as the legs begin to tire. This is not just a workout; it is a recalibration of your ballet foundation. We pay special attention to the fondu, emphasizing a melting quality that builds incredible leg strength and eccentric control. By slowing down the rond de jambe, we allow you to feel the full path of the leg through the hip socket, ensuring the hip stays forward and the rotation remains grounded.
One of the core focuses of this class is the relationship between the lower spine and the abdominal wall. As we work through extensions to the back, we practice lifting the lower belly to protect the spine and find more height in our movements. We address common technical pitfalls, such as letting the hip drop or the shoulders twist, ensuring your back-facing movements are executed with professional alignment. By focusing on keeping the chin lifted and the shoulders square, you will develop the slow strength necessary for powerful center work and adagio. Join us at Broche Ballet for this intensive practice and feel the difference that deep technique makes in your dancing.
