About This Video
Welcome to a focused 40-minute practice designed to refine the foundations of your ballet technique. At Broche Ballet, we believe that slowing down is the most effective way to progress. This session focuses on high-repetition combinations that allow you to truly feel every transition, specifically targeting your proprioception—the brain’s ability to understand where your body is in space without relying solely on visual cues.
The class begins with detailed barre work, emphasizing the mechanics of the feet and legs. You will work through meticulous tendu and fondu exercises, where the focus is on peeling the foot off the floor heel-first and maintaining precise contact with the floor until the very last moment of extension. By developing the habit of touching the floor before unpointing the foot, you build the control necessary for advanced allegro and adagio work.
We also dive into port de bras to ensure your upper body remains fluid and integrated with your lower body movements. A unique challenge in this session is the transition to center work without the support of the barre. You will practice grand battement and adagio movements in the open floor, forcing you to rely on your core stability and internal sense of balance.
We focus on keeping the hips forward and knees back during fondu, and maintaining a clean coup de pied or passé position. Whether you are working on your arabesque line or the precision of a simple tendu, this class provides the repetitive structure needed to turn conscious effort into muscle memory. By the end of this 40-minute practice, you will have a deeper connection to your alignment and a more refined sense of footwork.
This class is perfect for dancers looking to clean up their technique or for those returning to basics to ensure their foundation is rock-solid.
