About This Video
Take your center work to the next level with this comprehensive advanced ballet class at Broche Ballet. This session is specifically designed for dancers who have mastered the basics and are ready to tackle the complexities of multiple pirouettes and dynamic corner challenges. We move beyond the safety of the barre to challenge your balance, strength, and spatial awareness in the center.
The heart of this practice focuses on the technical mechanics of turning. You will dive deep into multiple pirouette drills, learning how a strong initial relevé and precise hip alignment serve as the necessary foundation for success. We emphasize the importance of staying up longer than you are down, encouraging you to find your vertical axis and hold your balance through the duration of the turn.
You will learn how to engage your glutes and core to create a stable column for rotation, as well as how to use your back knee to push off and generate the momentum needed for double or triple rotations. We specifically address common pitfalls, such as a dropped hip or lack of core connection, helping you stay square and centered during your pirouette execution. Beyond the pirouettes, this class explores the artistry and athleticism of center work.
Through a series of corner combinations featuring tombé, chassé, and arabesque, you will work on maintaining fluid transitions while keeping your alignment intact. These sequences are designed to build stamina and coordination, requiring you to move across the floor with grace and power. We also spend time on a lovely port de bras, reminding us that ballet is as much about the expressive movement of the upper body and head as it is about the technical precision of the feet and legs.
Whether you are working on your turns or perfecting your balance in a lunge or balancé, this class provides the professional feedback and structure you need to progress. By the end of this session, you will have a deeper understanding of how to connect your footwork with your core engagement, resulting in more controlled, confident, and beautiful ballet movements. Join us at Broche Ballet to refine your craft and master the center.
