About This Video
Move to the center of the room and find your balance with this comprehensive 20-minute ballet practice from Broche Ballet. This "All-level Center" class is designed to help you transition the strength you have built at the barre into fluid, graceful movements in open space. Throughout the session, we focus on foundational center exercises including tendu, dégagé, adagio, and a melodic waltz, with each combination repeated twice to ensure you can truly master the choreography and technical details.
The class begins with footwork to establish your connection to the floor. By practicing tendu and dégagé in the center, you will challenge your core stability and find your center of gravity without the aid of a barre. We then move into a controlled adagio, where the instructor emphasizes the importance of alignment and the coordination of the head, arms, and legs.
You will learn how to maintain a clean arabesque line and find length through your devant positions, focusing on the subtle details that make ballet so expressive. As we transition into the waltz, you will explore the dynamic quality of balancé and tombé movements. The instructor provides specific feedback on how to execute a tombé followed by a crisp pas de bourrée, ensuring that your weight transfer is seamless and your posture remains upright.
Special attention is paid to the use of allongé arms and mirroring the port de bras to enhance the artistic quality of your dance. To conclude the session, we perform a traditional reverence. This final sequence features a full port de bras, high face, and open second positions, allowing you to finish your practice with a sense of accomplishment and grace.
Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced dancer, this class offers the perfect environment to refine your technique and grow as an artist.
