About This Video
Welcome to your center floor practice with Broche Ballet! Transitioning from the barre to the center is one of the most exciting milestones for any beginner dancer. In this session, we focus on finding your stability without the support of the barre while introducing fun, energetic combinations that bring your dancing to life.
We begin with a focus on the plié—the foundation of all ballet movement. You will practice a sequence of one slow and two quick pliés, which helps develop the rhythm and muscle memory needed for more complex transitions. From there, we dive into the pas de bourrée.
This essential transition step requires quick, precise footwork. We break down the movement to ensure you feel confident moving across the floor with grace and agility. To make the class even more engaging, we utilize music with an upbeat, circus-inspired mood for our coda section.
A coda typically features fast-paced movements and dramatic flair, providing the perfect opportunity to practice couru steps and turns in a large circle. You will learn how to coordinate your arm movements, including allongé and more expressive stylings, to add visual interest to your footwork. Keeping the upper body relaxed while the feet remain active is a key skill we emphasize throughout the lesson.
Proper posture and alignment remain at the forefront of our instruction. Whether you are performing a simple pas de bourrée or preparing for a high-energy coda, maintaining a strong core and correct placement is vital for balance. We conclude the lesson by practicing traditional curtsies and bows, including the quarter-bow, ensuring you understand the etiquette and artistry that define a ballet performance.
Join us at Broche Ballet as we take these foundational steps and turn them into a joyful center floor experience.
