About This Video
Moving from the barre to the center is one of the most exciting and challenging milestones in a dancer's journey. At Broche Ballet, we believe that mastering the center requires a deep understanding of your body’s mechanics, specifically your center of gravity. In this Beginner Ballet Center class, we dive deep into the art of weight shifting to help you find stability and speed.
The core of this session focuses on how your body positioning directly impacts your footwork. When we lean too far in any direction, our feet become "stuck," making it difficult to execute quick movements. By learning to drive through the hips and maintain shoulder awareness, you will discover a newfound sense of control.
This class focuses heavily on the pas de bourrée, a fundamental transition step that requires precise timing and hip control. You will learn how to move through space efficiently without losing your balance or compromising your alignment. Throughout the exercises, we emphasize the relationship between the plié and the subsequent movement.
A well-placed plié acts as the engine for your dance, providing the power needed for allegro work. We also incorporate allongé movements to refine your coordination and artistry. Whether you are practicing in a studio or a home space, these combinations are designed to challenge your coordination while building the muscle memory necessary for more advanced levels.
As the class concludes with a traditional révérence, you will leave with a greater awareness of how to carry your weight throughout your daily life and your future ballet practices. By focusing on these foundational principles, you are setting the stage for more complex turns and jumps. Join the Broche Ballet community and transform your center work from shaky to steady.
