About This Video
Step away from the barre and find your balance with this comprehensive 27-minute Beginner Ballet Center practice. At Broche Ballet, we believe that center work is where the true magic of dance begins. This session is specifically designed to help beginner students transition their skills from the supported environment of the barre to the freedom of the center floor. We start with essential tendu exercises. In the center, tendus are no longer just about foot articulation; they become a test of your core stability and weight placement. You will learn how to maintain your turnout and avoid wobbling as you extend your leg to the front, side, and back. The class moves into rond de jambe, focusing on the circular path of the leg and the importance of a stable standing hip.
Coordination is a major theme of this practice. The instructor breaks down the relationship between the legs and the arms, or port de bras. Developing this coordination early on is crucial for more advanced steps. You will work on coup de pied and fondu, learning how to coordinate the melting action of the knees with the precise placement of the foot. These exercises are vital for developing the strength needed for jumps and turns later in your training. The class also features beautiful ballet walks. Moving gracefully across the floor is an art form in itself. You will practice shifting your weight smoothly while maintaining a lengthened spine and soft arms. We will also introduce the arabesque and the B+ position, helping you find your line and aesthetic in the center.
Throughout the video, the instructor provides detailed cues on timing and musicality. Ballet is as much about the music as it is about the movement, and learning to let the rhythm guide your pliés and transitions is a key learning outcome. Whether you are practicing in a studio or at home, this video offers the repetition and guidance necessary to build a strong ballet foundation.
