About This Video
Elevate your daily practice with our Chopin-inspired barre session at Broche Ballet. This 26-minute class is designed to help you dive deep into the fundamental movements that define a dancer’s technique: the plié and the tendu. Set to the lyrical and emotive music of Frédéric Chopin, this practice encourages a blend of technical precision and artistic expression, helping you find the breath within the movement.
In this session, we begin at the barre, where the instructor guides you through a sequence designed to build strength from the ground up. We start with pliés, the foundation of every jump and landing in ballet. You will learn how to use the floor effectively to maintain balance and prepare your body for more complex movements.
From there, we transition into tendus, focusing on the articulation of the foot and the importance of a fully stretched leg. As the class progresses, we explore the fluid, melting quality of the fondu. The instructor emphasizes the importance of performing a fondu without leaning forward, keeping the ears aligned over the shoulders and the spine long.
You will also practice transitions into su-su, challenging your core engagement and vertical stability. By focusing on proper alignment and turnout, you will achieve better balance and poise throughout the combinations. A key highlight of this class is the focus on footwork.
We practice flexing and pointing the foot to enhance control, especially when moving through transitional steps. Balancing on one leg without relying on the barre is another critical skill covered, helping you develop the stability needed for center work. Whether you are working on your grand jeté preparation or refining your daily barre routine, this class offers the corrections and encouragement necessary to succeed.
At Broche Ballet, we believe that consistent practice is the key to mastery. Join us as we refine our technique, build strength, and find joy in the music.
