About This Video
Elevate your daily practice with this serene and focused 25-minute ballet class from Broche Ballet. In "Beautiful Pliés & Tendus," we move beyond the basics to explore the artistry and precision required for foundational movements. This session is designed for dancers who want to find a balance between rigorous technical refinement and mindful relaxation.
Whether you are practicing at home or in a studio, these exercises are tailored to help you connect with your body and improve your form. The class begins with a series of controlled pliés, emphasizing the importance of external rotation and keeping the knees tracking over the toes for proper alignment. By focusing on the slow descent and powerful ascent, you will build the essential lower-body strength and stability necessary for more complex center work and jumps.
We then transition into a series of tendus, which serve as an excellent tool for stretching the feet, strengthening the arches, and articulating through the metatarsals. Our instructor guides you through the nuances of foot placement, ensuring that every brush against the floor is intentional, graceful, and anatomically sound. A significant portion of the class is dedicated to the mechanics of the relevé.
You will learn how to properly engage your toes and press your heels forward to achieve a high, stable demi-pointe. The instructor provides insightful tips on holding these positions to improve your balance, core engagement, and calf strength. We also break down the pas de cheval, a movement that requires a delicate "rotate, knee back, out and close" sequence to execute with the correct aesthetic.
Throughout the practice, you will work on fondu and other barre exercises that promote flexibility and fluid transitions between steps. " By the end of this session, you will feel more grounded and technically proficient.
