About This Video
Welcome to a specialized Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) session at Broche Ballet, designed to elevate your stamina and refine your technical precision. This 20-minute conditioning class focuses intensely on the mechanics of turnout and the strength required for a beautiful, stable arabesque. By utilizing a large exercise ball and a small fusion ball, we challenge your proprioception and force your deep stabilizing muscles to engage in ways traditional floor work cannot.
These tools provide the necessary feedback to ensure you are recruiting the right muscle groups for peak performance. We begin with core activation, the foundation of all ballet movement. You will learn how to integrate your core muscles during extension, ensuring that your leg height never comes at the expense of your lower back's safety.
Moving into turnout exercises, we explore alternating movements from first position to fifth position. These drills are designed to help you find and hold your rotation from the hip socket, engaging the inner thighs to maintain a solid line throughout your transitions. A significant portion of this class is dedicated to arabesque strengthening.
Through the use of cobra poses and stability exercises, you will learn to lift and lengthen the spine rather than just arching the back. We emphasize the importance of keeping the neck neutral and looking forward, allowing the upper spine to engage fully for a more regal posture. This length, combined with the activation of the deep muscles in the legs, creates a more expansive and effortless-looking extension.
The use of props like the exercise ball adds an element of fun while providing immediate feedback on your alignment. Squeezing the inner thigh muscles during arabesque extension becomes more intuitive when you have the resistance of the ball to work against. Whether you are working on your stability in center or looking to add more power to your movements, this PBT class offers the targeted conditioning necessary for growth.
Join our supportive community at Broche Ballet as we bridge the gap between functional strength training and beautiful artistic expression. Mastering these stability exercises will not only improve your form but also protect your body from injury as you progress to more advanced levels of dance.
