About This Video
Elevate your dance practice with our specialized Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) class, specifically designed to enhance your extensions and refine your turnout. At Broche Ballet, we understand that achieving the perfect line requires more than just flexibility; it demands incredible core stability and precise muscle engagement. This session focuses on these essential elements using both large stability balls and small fusion balls to provide the resistance and feedback needed for technical mastery.
The class begins with a comprehensive core stability warmup on the large exercise ball. This initial phase is crucial for establishing the center required to support high extensions without compromising pelvic alignment. We then transition into floor-based work, utilizing the small ball to target the deep external rotators of the hip.
You will explore the sensations of turnout in première position and quatrième position, learning how to maintain rotation even as the legs move through space. One of the core components of this practice is the focus on cinquième position turnout. By placing a small ball between the shins and performing controlled rolling movements, you gain an anatomical understanding of how to wrap the legs from the hips rather than forcing the feet.
This translates directly to improved stability in sus-sous and better control during grand battement. Finally, we tackle extensions. You will work on à la seconde and arabesque lines, using the equipment to isolate the working leg while keeping the supporting side stable.
This cross-training approach helps dancers feel the correct muscle groups, preventing common errors like dropping the hip or sitting in the standing leg. Whether you are working toward higher extensions or simply want more functional strength for your next center combination, this PBT conditioning class provides the tools you need to succeed. Join us at Broche Ballet to transform your technique from the floor up.
