About This Video
Elevate your dancing with our dedicated session on Petite & Grande Allegro Technique. At Broche Ballet, we believe that powerful, airy jumps start with a foundation of safety and precision. In this class, we break down the mechanics of the jump, or sauté, to ensure your knees and lower back remain healthy while you find your lift.
One of the most critical aspects of jumping is the relationship between the landing and the take-off. We focus heavily on the mechanics of the plié. Keeping your knees directly over your toes is non-negotiable for injury prevention.
You will learn specific drills to maintain an upright torso, preventing the common mistake of caving in or leaning forward during the preparation. By keeping your core engaged and your shoulders stacked over your hips, you create a stable pillar of strength from which to launch. We also dive deep into the articulation of the foot.
To achieve a beautiful line in the air, you must learn to roll through the foot. This starts with a deep plié, pushing through the floor, transitioning through demi-pointe, and finally reaching a fully stretched pointe at the apex of your jump. We practice these 'foot-push' drills to build the necessary strength in the metatarsals and ankles.
Whether you are practicing a simple changement or preparing for more complex petite allegro combinations, the principles remain the same. We start with low jumps to establish correct form before gradually increasing the height and complexity. This progressive approach allows your body to build the muscle memory needed for grande allegro without sacrificing technique.
Join us at Broche Ballet to transform your jumps into effortless, safe, and powerful expressions of movement.
