About This Video
Transitioning from the safety of the barre to the middle of the floor is one of the most challenging milestones for any dancer training en pointe. In this specialized session from Broche Ballet, we invite you to explore and play as we venture away from the barre to build confidence, stability, and artistry. Our instructor leads you through a series of exercises designed to test your balance and refine your alignment in center floor work.
We begin with foundational movements, including sous-sus and demi-plié, focusing on the subtle shifts in weight required to stay stable in pointe shoes. A key focus of this class is maintaining a forward-leaning upper body posture. By keeping your head and torso slightly forward, you allow your feet to follow your center of gravity, preventing the common mistake of falling backward while en pointe.
As the class progresses, we move into more dynamic movements such as piqué and passé. You will learn how to coordinate your port de bras with your footwork to create a seamless flow of movement. The lesson also incorporates adagio elements, featuring tendu and pas de bourrée combinations that challenge your control and stamina.
The Explore & Play philosophy of this video encourages you to step outside your comfort zone. If you lose your balance during a turn or miss a count, the goal is to recover quickly and step back into the flow. This mindset is essential for developing the resilience needed for intermediate and advanced performance.
Whether you are working on your stability or looking to add more fluidity to your dancing, this session provides the tools to help you feel secure and expressive without the constant support of the barre. Join us at Broche Ballet to elevate your pointe work and find your center.
