About This Video
Venturing off the barre is one of the most exciting yet challenging milestones in any dancer's pointe journey. At Broche Ballet, we understand that moving into the center requires a unique blend of physical strength, technical precision, and mental confidence. This specialized pointe class is designed to help you bridge that gap, providing the tools you need to feel secure and expressive without the support of the horizontal rail.
The session begins with a focus on stability and alignment. You will explore movements such as relevé in both first and fourth positions, learning how to find your center of gravity while maintaining a strong, engaged core. We emphasize the importance of keeping the shoulders down and the stomach lifted, ensuring your weight is correctly distributed over your shoes.
Timing is a critical component of center work; we practice stretching the feet fully at the top of every relevé to develop the 'snap' and control necessary for professional-level execution. As we progress, the class introduces more dynamic transitions, including tendu and coupé combinations. You will learn how to navigate the floor with grace, focusing on how to 'catch' yourself in a fully stretched position.
We also explore the nuances of moving between sous-sus positions, offering variations such as coming down through tendu or using a passé transition. This variety helps you build versatility and adaptability in your movement. To round out the technical work, we include a dedicated adagio section.
This is your time to slow down and truly feel the floor through your pointe shoes. By focusing on slow, controlled movements, you can appreciate the aesthetic beauty of ballet while refining your balance. Whether you are working on your arabesque or simply finding your breath in the center, this class encourages you to 'explore and play' with your technique.
Join us at Broche Ballet to gain the confidence you need to dance freely away from the barre.
