About This Video
At Broche Ballet, we believe the transition from beginner to intermediate pointe work is a pivotal moment in a dancer's journey. This Post Pointe Cohort Graduation class is specifically designed to bridge that gap, offering a barre experience taught at the elevated level of our subsequent programs. Throughout this session, we focus on the technical nuances that separate a beginner from a more seasoned dancer, emphasizing precision, strength, and fluid transitions.
The core of this class revolves around foundational yet challenging movements. You will work through rigorous barre exercises including sus-sous, passé, and tombé. We place a significant emphasis on the drive through the floor, teaching you how to close into the front with control and intention.
A major focus of our adagio section is learning how to find length and stretch within the movement. By avoiding the tendency to slam down from a position, you develop the muscular endurance and grace required for center work. Our instructor provides detailed feedback on maintaining a tight line in à la seconde and finding the correct alignment in arabesque.
You will learn how the ankles play a crucial role in bringing you around when stepping up and overcrossing, a skill vital for clean pas de bourrée sequences. Furthermore, we address the physical care necessary for pointe work, including how to soften the ankle, shin, and shoe bend during recovery stretches. Musicality and expression are woven into the technical instruction.
We encourage dancers to use their breath to deepen into stretches, particularly in parallel positions, to increase flexibility and range of motion. By the end of this graduation class, you will have a clearer understanding of the next level expectations and the tools needed to succeed in your continuing ballet education. Join us at Broche Ballet as we celebrate your progress and prepare for the exciting challenges ahead.
