About This Video
Welcome to the Speed Barre at Broche Ballet—a high-energy, efficient 35-minute session designed to fit into your busy schedule without compromising on technical rigor. Led by Julie, this class is perfect for dancers who want a full barre experience that emphasizes flow and musicality over lengthy explanations. In this session, we dive straight into a comprehensive series of exercises, starting with a focus on the fondu.
You will learn to lead with the heel when extending the foot, ensuring a grounded and strong foundation. We move through fondu en croix, working through the front, side, and back to build consistent strength and flexibility in the supporting leg. The class also places a heavy emphasis on upper body coordination.
You will practice bringing the arabesque arm through first position before opening, creating a seamless and professional line. We also tackle développé, where the focus remains on keeping the heel facing forward as you extend the leg, a key component of classical turnout. For those looking to improve their power, we include grand battement to build explosive strength and range of motion.
Throughout the class, we use dynamic music to challenge your timing, especially during circular movements and quick weight shifts. By the end of this 35-minute practice, you will have worked through your entire body, refined your placements, and improved your overall dance stamina. Whether you are a beginner looking to solidify your basics or an intermediate dancer needing a quick, effective workout, this Speed Barre offers the perfect balance of challenge and efficiency.
