About This Video
Welcome to a session dedicated to finding your voice through movement. At Broche Ballet, we believe that technique is the foundation upon which artistry is built. In this Artistry in Center class, we move away from the barre to focus on a beautiful and relaxing port de bras combination designed to help you feel like a true dancer.
This practice is less about the height of your legs and more about the soul of your movement. We begin by breaking down the mechanics of the arms. You will learn the importance of keeping a straight, continuous line from fingertip to fingertip as you move through allongé.
We focus specifically on the coordination required for a balanced flying effect; by lifting one hand at the exact speed the other lowers, you create a visual harmony that is essential for professional-looking center work. The combination also explores the cambré. Rather than just bending, we visualize a diving effect, reaching both arms forward from the spine to create a wide, expansive shape.
This movement requires a strong, engaged core and a long spine to maintain balance and grace. To add layers of texture, we integrate plié and relevé. You will discover how to use your plié as a tool for momentum, allowing you to glide through transitions like the temps lié with ease.
Adding a relevé provides a moment of suspension and intensity, challenging your control while elevating the performance quality of the sequence. Throughout the class, we emphasize the role of breath and body awareness. By staying present in every finger placement and every shift of weight, you transform a simple exercise into a piece of performance art.
The instructor provides constant feedback, encouraging you to take artistic liberties. This is your time to incorporate your personal style and expression, making the choreography uniquely yours. Join us to refine your technique and rediscover the joy of expressive ballet.
