About This Video
Refine your foundation with this meditative and intensive ballet barre practice from Broche Ballet. This session is designed for dancers who want to move past the mental hurdle of memorizing combinations and instead focus entirely on the physical mechanics of movement. " In this Deep Dive Technique class, we focus on high-repetition exercises that build muscle memory and refine alignment.
We begin with slow, controlled pliés and tendus, emphasizing the transition through demi-pointe to ensure stability and strength. As the class progresses, we move into more intensive work, including ronds de jambe and fondu exercises. The repetitive nature of the movements allows you to find your center and ensure your weight is correctly placed over the standing leg at all times.
A key focus of this session is the transition between positions. You will work on swiveling the heel forward when moving from a cou-de-pied position to a dégagé or à la seconde extension. We also explore the path of the working leg en cloche and through the retiré and passé positions.
By focusing on keeping the shoulders down and the ears high, you will cultivate the elegant, long lines required for classical ballet. This practice is particularly effective for improving your ronds de jambe. We emphasize keeping the heel visible and leading the movement from the hip to maintain a clear path to the front and back.
Similarly, during tendu side and back exercises, we focus on keeping the heel tucked under the foot to maintain proper turn-out. The class concludes with a challenging balance, lifting the passé leg higher while maintaining a strong, stable core and a deep stretch through the toes. Whether you are looking to fix a specific technical habit or simply want a meditative, physical practice, this session offers the space to breathe and refine your art.
