About This Video
Welcome to this focused session at Broche Ballet, where we slow down the tempo to speed up your progress. This Super Sweaty Slow Barre class is designed for dancers who want to delve deep into the mechanics of their movement. By performing combinations at a deliberate pace, you challenge your muscles to maintain stability and precision, resulting in a deeper workout than many fast-paced classes.
Throughout this 36-minute practice, we focus on the fundamental pillars of ballet technique. We begin with a thorough warm-up at the barre, incorporating deep pliés and articulate tendus to wake up the feet and legs. As we progress, you will work through foundational positions including passé and devant extensions.
The slow tempo allows you to focus on the why behind every movement, ensuring your weight placement and turnout are optimal. A significant portion of this class explores Pilates-inspired movements to strengthen the core and obliques. Engaging these muscle groups is essential for maintaining proper posture and alignment, especially during challenging extensions like attitude and arabesque.
You will learn specific techniques for lifting the leg higher in an attitude position by keeping the shoulder forward and the knee back, creating a beautiful and functional line. We also address flexibility and body control, with dedicated exercises for the hamstrings and hip flexors. Whether you are refining your side stretches or adding a second position to your sequences, the emphasis remains on isolating movement and avoiding compensation.
At Broche Ballet, we believe in a supportive environment; the instructor provides constant feedback to help you find your best form without comparison to others. Join us on the barre to build the strength, grace, and technical foundation every dancer needs.
