About This Video
Welcome to Broche Ballet and the Sticky Buns Beginner Ballet Program! Starting your journey in the beautiful world of dance can sometimes feel overwhelming, but this guide is designed specifically to help you navigate our comprehensive, step-by-step curriculum from the comfort of your own home. Whether you are a complete novice or an adult returning to the barre after a long break, understanding how to utilize this program effectively is the first step toward achieving your artistic and physical goals.
The foundation of any great dancer is a strong grasp of terminology. We recommend beginning your journey with our Program Overview and Beginner Ballet Vocabulary sections. Here, you will find a downloadable checklist to help you master essential French terms such as plié, tendu, and relevé.
Once you feel confident with the language of dance, you will transition into our technical series. The Sticky Buns program features a detailed eight-part series focused on the barre, followed by a six-part center series. This logical structure ensures you develop the necessary stability, turnout, and alignment before moving into unsupported movements in the center of the room.
One of the most common questions we receive at Broche Ballet is how often one should practice. This introductory video covers recommended frequencies based on your current fitness and activity level. For those just starting out, 2-3 times per week is ideal to allow your muscles to adapt.
More active individuals may progress up to 5 times per week, while highly active students might find up to 10 sessions per week manageable. The beauty of the Sticky Buns program is its flexibility; repetition is the key to muscle memory, and we encourage you to revisit videos until you feel fully comfortable with each movement. As you progress, the program evolves into a well-rounded training schedule.
This includes not just ballet technique, but also strength training, stretching, and pre-pointe exercises to prepare your body for the rigors of dance. Finally, you will put all your hard work together by learning a beautiful ballet variation from The Nutcracker.
