About This Video
Welcome to Class #14 of Broche Ballet’s comprehensive 16-week Beginner Pointe Program. As we approach the end of this journey, the focus shifts from foundational isolation to the artistry of putting together complex combinations. In this 55-minute class, you will challenge your stamina and technical precision as we weave together the steps you have mastered over the past thirteen weeks.
The session begins with focused barre work, emphasizing the essential relationship between the plié and the relevé. You will learn how a deep, controlled plié serves as the necessary engine for every rise en pointe. We pay special attention to maintaining forward hip alignment and keeping the knees back, which is vital for finding your center and protecting your joints.
As the class progresses, we move into more intricate sequences. You will practice drawing the foot sharply up the leg into passé and transitioning through demi-pointe into a luscious fondu. One of the core challenges of this class is the dégagé tombé combination, where you will focus on drawing the foot up the back of the leg to maintain perfect balance before the descent.
We also integrate sous-sous and pas de bourrée to create fluid movement. Throughout the practice, our instructor provides detailed guidance on foot placement and weight distribution. You will learn to navigate the heavy feeling in the arches during repetitive relevé work by engaging your core and lifting out of your pointe shoes.
Whether you are working on your échappé or a sustained adagio, this class is designed to build the confidence and strength required for intermediate pointe work. Join us at Broche Ballet to refine your technique and discover the joy of fluid movement en pointe.
