About This Video
Welcome to the fourth installment of the Broche Ballet Winter 2024 Beginner Pointe Program. This 53-minute session is designed to bridge the gap between foundational stability and more fluid movement sequences. As you progress in your journey en pointe, maintaining rigorous technique at the barre is essential for both safety and artistic grace. This class provides the structure needed to build that confidence.
The lesson begins with a classic barre warmup, focusing on the foundational elements of plié, tendu, and dégagé. We place a heavy emphasis on foot shape and alignment, ensuring your feet are always 'forward and out' to prevent injury and promote proper line. You will learn the importance of articulation through movements like the temps lié, focusing on the push off the floor and the transition through demi-pointe.
A key highlight of this class is the introduction of the pas de bourrée. We break down this essential transitional step, connecting it with the tombé and piqué dégagé. You will learn to execute a tombé by closing on demi-pointe and lowering down with control, followed by rolling back up to find your balance. We also focus on the sus-sous, practicing a sequence of plié, sus-sous, and stretch to build the vertical strength required for more advanced work.
Beyond the physical steps, this class addresses the realities of dancing en pointe. Your instructor provides valuable tips for managing fatigue, such as when to rest your feet and how to use warm socks to aid recovery. By gradually increasing your stamina through these guided exercises, you will develop the endurance necessary for a full ballet class. Join us at Broche Ballet to refine your technique and master the fundamentals of pointe work.
