About This Video
Elevate your ballet practice with this intensive 30-minute session focused on pointe strength and stamina at the barre. At Broche Ballet, we believe that mastery of pointe work comes from a deep understanding of body mechanics and consistent, focused practice. This class is designed to help intermediate and advanced dancers transition from simple exercises to the complex demands of dancing en pointe with grace and power.
During this session, we delve into the essential mechanics of weight transfer. One of the primary focuses is the transition from fourth position to passé. You will learn to think from "underneath" the leg, ensuring that your push-off is grounded and controlled.
This same mechanical action is applied to pushing forward into an arabesque, teaching you how to use your standing leg as a stable pillar. By mastering the concept of "pushing from two legs into one," you will find newfound stability and height in your movements. Stability en pointe does not just come from the ankles; it starts in the hips.
This class emphasizes using hip movement and control to manipulate the body and stabilize the shoulders. When the hips are properly engaged, the upper body can remain calm and expressive, even during challenging sequences. We will practice combinations involving dégagé en croix, focusing on the precision of the foot as it disengages from the floor, as well as controlled échappé movements to build explosive strength and endurance.
Throughout the practice, we focus on alignment and posture to ensure every movement is executed safely and effectively. Whether you are working on your plié depth or the height of your retiré, the goal is to build the stamina necessary for longer variations. Join us at Broche Ballet to refine your technique, build your confidence, and take your pointe work to the next level through these targeted barre exercises.
