About This Video
Welcome to this comprehensive 45-minute barre session at Broche Ballet, designed for dancers of all levels who want to refine their foundational technique. In this class, we move away from complex choreography to focus on simple, high-repetition combinations that allow you to truly feel your alignment and muscle engagement. By stripping back the complexity, you can dedicate your full attention to the nuances of every movement.
We begin with intentional pliés, setting the tone for the entire session. The focus here is on maintaining a neutral pelvis and avoiding the common pelvic tilt. By grounding through your feet and engaging your core, you create the stability needed for more advanced movements later in the class. As we progress into the fondu section, the instructor emphasizes the importance of the vertical hip. You will learn to press the knee back against the hip, ensuring a clean and strong line during every extension. These melting movements are essential for developing the leg strength required for jumps and controlled adagio work.
One of the highlights of this session is our special technique challenge: 50 relevés! Whether you are celebrating a milestone like our student Melissa or just looking to build calf strength and ankle stability, these repetitions are invaluable. We focus on staying over the toes, engaging the rotators, and finding a consistent balance at the top of each rise.
Throughout the class, we prioritize slow and controlled movements. This deliberate pace helps you build functional strength while preventing injury. By focusing on the mechanics of each movement, you will leave the barre feeling stronger, more aligned, and more confident in your placement. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned dancer, these high-repetition combinations offer a perfect way to check in with your body and elevate your practice.
