About This Video
Welcome to a comprehensive all-level ballet barre practice designed to elevate your artistry and technique. In this session at Broche Ballet, we shift our focus beyond the feet and legs to the expressive power of the upper body. While foundational movements like the plié and battement are essential, the true grace of a dancer is often found in the coordination of the head and arms—the port de bras.
Throughout this 40-minute class, we move through a traditional barre sequence, including refined work on pliés, tendus, and battements. Special attention is given to the alignment of the head and the fluid movement of the arms. You will learn how to coordinate a deep plié with a breath-led port de bras and how to maintain a stable, elegant line during complex movements like the développé and arabesque.
One of the core challenges for dancers of all levels is the timing of the head in relation to the feet. Our instructor provides detailed cues on when to incline the head, how to use your gaze to lengthen your lines, and how to avoid stiff neck positions during transitions. This focus on coordination helps you move away from mechanical repetition toward a more professional, emotive performance.
We will also explore movements en dedans and the correct execution of a croisé position, ensuring your technique is as clean as it is expressive. Whether you are practicing in a studio or from the comfort of your home, this class offers the tools to feel more confident and graceful. By the end of the session, you will have a deeper understanding of how every part of the body—from the fingertips to the crown of the head—works together to create the balletic silhouette.
