About This Video
Elevate your practice from a standard workout to a true performance with our Artistry Barre class. At Broche Ballet, we believe that technique is the foundation, but artistry is what makes a dancer. This 37-minute session is specifically designed to help you transition from simply 'doing the steps' to truly feeling the music and expressing yourself through movement. Throughout this class, we focus on the essential elements of dance that often get overlooked in technical drills: breath, flow, and stage presence.
We begin at the barre, where you will be guided through a series of foundational exercises including tendu and fondu, but with a unique emphasis on the transition between positions. You will learn how to use your breath to initiate movement, creating a sense of ease and fluid grace. We pay special attention to port de bras, teaching you how to use your arms and eye line to convey emotion and tell a story, even during a simple exercise.
In the adagio portion of the class, we dive deep into control and precision. You will work through challenging movements such as développé and arabesque, focusing on maintaining a long, extended line while keeping your working leg energized and your toe pointed. We also incorporate cambré to develop flexibility and strength in the upper body, encouraging a sweeping, expressive quality.
By the end of this class, you won't just have worked your muscles; you will have refined your artistic voice. We encourage you to use the barre for support, but to avoid relying on it, allowing your internal balance and core strength to take center stage. Whether you are preparing for a performance or simply want to feel more connected to your movements, this class provides the tools to help you dance with intention and beauty.
