About This Video
Elevate your training with this specialized Broche Ballet class designed to refine your technical precision while dancing en pointe. In this 45-minute comprehensive session, we bridge the gap between basic footwork and advanced control, focusing on the essential nuances that make pointe work look effortless and feel secure. We begin with a thorough barre, where the focus remains on the concept of lifting out of the shoe.
You will learn how to properly point your feet inside the box to engage the correct muscles and prevent sinking into your toes. The instructor provides valuable insights into shaping and bending your pointe shoes, ensuring they provide the customized support necessary for your unique arch and foot shape. Throughout the class, we explore a series of targeted exercises including tendu, passé, piqué, and fondu.
Special attention is given to maintaining a straight supporting leg and finding a sharp, controlled lift during piqué movements. You will practice the transition into susus and passé positions, learning how to push off the floor with intention and stabilize your core for better balance. The final segment features the Fabulous 15—a 15-minute follow-along relevé challenge.
This intensive portion is designed to build the calf strength and ankle stability required for center work. By repeating these movements with a focus on alignment and control, you will develop the muscle memory needed for more complex choreography. Beyond the physical movement, this class covers the practicalities of pointe work, including tips for deepening calf stretches and increasing ankle flexibility after your session.
