About This Video
Welcome to the "Fabulous 15," a specialized 15-minute nonstop pointe session at Broche Ballet designed for the dedicated dancer. This high-intensity barre practice is perfect for those who want to refine their technique and build strength without spending an hour in the studio. Every second of this 15-minute class is utilized to challenge your stability, control, and connection to the floor.
The workout begins with foundational movements in first position, where you will focus on achieving perfect turnout and alignment from the heels up. As we move through pliés and tendus, the instructor provides detailed guidance on the 'toe connection' within your pointe shoes. Learning to manipulate the shoe with your toes—rather than letting the shoe control you—is essential for safe and beautiful pointework.
This focus extends into demi-pointe movements, where control is paramount. Dynamic exercises like pas de cheval and dégagé are integrated to improve your speed and precision. You will learn to 'swoop and close' with pointed toes, maintaining a strong, held core and engaged glutes throughout.
The class also emphasizes the importance of the upper body, with cambré movements that require you to look to the right and left while maintaining balance. By pulling the shoulders down and pushing the hips forward, you create the long, elegant lines that define professional ballet. Stability is a recurring theme, especially when transitioning into a sous-sus or holding a challenging plié.
The instructor encourages you to find your balance as early as possible in each exercise, building the muscle memory needed for center work. We conclude with a series of stretches designed to release tension in the feet and calves. Whether you are an intermediate or advanced student, "Fabulous 15" offers the perfect technical tune-up to keep your pointework sharp and your body strong.
