About This Video
Welcome to this focused ballet practice at Broche Ballet, where we dive deep into the mechanics of leg extensions and upper body flexibility. In this session, we transition through a series of exercises designed to build the strength and range of motion necessary for high, effortless extensions and graceful cambré movements. We begin at the barre, establishing a solid foundation through pliés and relevés to warm up the supporting leg and core.
A significant portion of this class is dedicated to mastering the cambré. You will learn how to properly execute a cambré back by standing close to the barre and using it as a counterweight to find that deep stretch. We emphasize the importance of head placement—keeping it turned to the side—to protect the neck and maintain an elegant line.
As we move into extensions, we explore the développé and work on holding positions à la seconde with precision. The instructor provides critical feedback on weight transfer and alignment, helping you bring your ribs closer to your quad for deeper engagement. We also challenge your balance with sous-sus and centered extensions without the support of the barre.
Whether you are working on your arabesque height or the fluidity of your port de bras, this flow provides the technical corrections needed to elevate your dance practice. Finish the session with a restorative hip stretch to ensure your muscles remain supple and ready for your next center combination.
