About This Video
Welcome to your center practice at Broche Ballet. This 16-minute session is specifically designed for beginner dancers looking to transition their skills away from the barre and into the center of the room. Center work is a critical milestone in ballet training where you develop the core strength, balance, and spatial awareness necessary to perform without external support.
In this class, we begin by establishing a strong foundation through proper posture and alignment. You will move through a sequence of foundational exercises, including pliés, tendus, and dégagés. These movements are essential for warming up the muscles and finding your center of gravity before progressing to more complex combinations.
The lesson places a special focus on the arabesque. You will learn how to maintain a long, supported line through your torso while extending the leg behind you. We emphasize the importance of weight placement, ensuring you stay forward on the supporting leg to achieve maximum stability.
Following our arabesque work, we transition into rond de jambe and temps lié. The temps lié is a fundamental movement for learning how to transfer weight smoothly and gracefully across the floor—a skill that is vital for all future adagio and allegro work. As we continue, the instructor guides you through the pas de bourrée, focusing on the precise movement of the pelvis and the quick, controlled transfer of weight between the feet.
We conclude the session with a graceful reverence, incorporating allongé and port de bras to find length and breath in your movements. Whether you are practicing in a home studio or a larger space, this guided session provides the technical breakdown you need to feel confident and poised in the center.
