About This Video
Welcome to Week 11 of the Broche Ballet Beginner Pointe Cohort. As we move into the latter half of this 16-week program, our focus shifts toward mastering the essential movements that bridge the gap between simple rises and complex center stability. This session is dedicated to refining two fundamental steps in the pointe dancer's vocabulary: the échappé and the pas de bourrée.
The échappé, or "escaping" movement, is a cornerstone of pointe work. In this class, we break down the mechanics of moving from a closed fifth position to an open second position en pointe. The instructor emphasizes the importance of keeping the knees engaged and the weight centered to ensure a clean, sharp movement.
You will learn how to articulate through the feet, ensuring that both feet arrive en pointe simultaneously for maximum stability and aesthetic grace. In addition to the échappé, we dive deep into the pas de bourrée. This class introduces a refined way to transition back to a flat fifth position, focusing on a simultaneous descent to demi-pointe.
This attention to detail helps build the necessary ankle strength and control for more complex combinations. We also incorporate a technical sequence featuring pas de cheval, tombé, piqué, and fondu. These steps are designed to improve your weight placement and foot articulation, preparing you for the fluid transitions required in classical variations.
Consistency and precision are key in pointe work. By focusing on these technical foundations, you are building the stamina and muscle memory needed to dance with confidence. The session concludes with a targeted stretching routine for the feet, Achilles, and arches.
Relieving tension after a focused pointe session is vital for long-term progress and injury prevention. Join Broche Ballet as we refine your technique and bring you one step closer to effortless dancing en pointe.
