About This Video
In the second week of our "Bridging the Gap" series, Broche Ballet invites you to dive deeper into center-floor work with a specific focus on traveling vocabulary. Transitioning from the support of the barre to the open space of the center is one of the most challenging aspects of ballet training. This class is designed to help you build the confidence and coordination necessary to move through space with grace and precision.
The primary focus of this session is the chassé. While often introduced as a simple movement, the traveling chassé requires a sophisticated understanding of weight distribution and timing. We break down two specific types of traveling chassés, emphasizing the essential "down-up" motion.
You will learn how to lead with the heel to maintain a grounded yet fluid movement quality, ensuring your center work looks professional and controlled. " We combine the chassé with the waltz turn, a movement that involves a delicate sequence of stepping, brushing, and turning. You will practice connecting these elements with a tombé and pas de bourrée, creating a seamless flow that carries you across the floor on a diagonal.
Our instructor provides step-by-step demonstrations and technical feedback to ensure you are not just mimicking the movement, but truly understanding the mechanics of the turn. Whether you are practicing in a home studio or a larger space, these exercises are tailored to help you find your pose and maintain balance during directional changes. By focusing on coordination and gestural work, we also challenge your cognitive awareness, a vital skill for more advanced choreography.
This 28-minute session includes a comprehensive warmup to prepare your muscles for the dynamic requirements of center-floor combinations. Join us as we level up your technique and help you feel more at home in the center of the studio.
